Quantum Skills Academy provide a wide range of courses and qualifications for health and social care workers in England.

The Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) is the new way of recognising skills and achievements. It does this by the awarding of credits for qualifications and individual units and applies to England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It aims to provide a more flexible route to gaining qualifications and enables progression to be achieved in smaller steps through the accumulation of credit.


QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, and Children and Young People's Services (England) (Adults' Management) - Qualification Accreditation Number 600/4259/5

Aims & Objectives: This qualification has a Value of 90 Credits (Guided Learning Hours 502 – 654 hours) and is aimed at advanced practitioners in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services. The qualification provides Learners with the skills and knowledge required to manage practice and lead others. It has six pathways covering a wide range of topics, including: safeguarding and protection, managing care services, supporting development, partnership working and promoting and developing best practice.

This qualification confirms competence in these areas and serves as the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirements in the sector where appropriate.  

Entry Guidance:  There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification however Learners must be at least 19 years of age. This qualification is suitable for those who work within the Health and Social Care or Children and Young Peoples sectors as a manager or team leader. It is recommended that Learners hold a Level 3 qualification in a related area.

Funding Information: If you are a Health & Social Care for Adults employer within England, access to the Skills for Care Workforce Development Fund (WDF) for 2016-17is now available.  Funding is based on a maximum of 60 credits for the course fees in the first year, but any shortfall can be carried over into the second funding year. Where WDF funding is accessed, individual candidates will pay a registration fee of £150.

QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) for England - Qualification Accreditation Number: 600/1898/7

Aims and Objectives: This qualification has a value of 58 Credit (Guided Learning Hours 319 – 434) and develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a senior role with adults in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures

Entry Guidance:  There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

This qualification is suitable for those who work within the health and social care workforce. It provides Learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their competence in a wide range of job roles.

Progression Opportunities:  Learners who achieve this qualification could progress into employment in a social care role such as senior care support workers in residential settings, supported living or day services or community based senior support or care workers.

QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) for England - Qualification Accreditation Number (QAN): 600/1907/4

Aims and Objectives: This qualification has a value of 46 Credit (Guided Learning Hours 325 – 391). The Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF) qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce. The qualification contains a wide range of optional units which will allow opportunity for competence to be demonstrated in a wide range of contexts.

This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards and is recognized as a component in the Health and Social Care (England) Apprenticeship Framework.

Entry Guidance: There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

This qualification is suitable for those who work within the health and social care workforce. It provides Learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their competence in a wide range of job roles.

Progression Opportunities: This qualification confirms competence in the health and social care sector for roles such as: care assistants/support workers in residential settings, healthcare assistants or community based care assistants.
